A decision

After sitting on it being done for awhile, releasing the first arc of it for free online, and talking to a friend of a friend who works with agents. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to tackle the next steps and it’s been well…very stressful. Long story short. I think I’m just going to self publish. Truth be told my book isn’t very marketable in the current landscape, and that’s all that matters to companies. They dont care about the ideas for the future in the series and only about what is right in front of them right now, which is fair.

I think about my favorite meme which shows someone of twitter complaining that old authors, like Tolkien and Jordan still have so much shelf space in stores compared to newer ones and a reply reads, “Write better books.” But companies aren’t interested in better stories or series, they are interested in what will make them money now and fast.

Either way, what it really boils down to this. If I spent the extensive time it requires to try and go traditional, I know I would be waiting in apprehension and also be relying on its success. If I taint my passion, my writing with a want, maybe even a need, for success and monetary gain, than I’ve not only betrayed it, but myself as well.

So why isn’t it out? I’ve recently got a few people willing to read it as a normal book, not looking for any errors or edits needed, and they’ll tell me if they happen to notice anything I’ve missed over who knows how many personal times I’ve gone through and edited it.

After they are done, expect to be seeing it very shortly on amazon.
